Today Mallory "graduated" from preschool.
Wow. That just blows me away when I think about it.
She's grown up so much over the past few years. I remember the first day I dropped her off at preschool. She didn't even hesitate. She's normally such a momma's girl but I think that because she had spent so much of her toddler time at the preschool when Mitchell was there that spending time there without mommy was ok.
Today started off as a field day for the kids. They got to stop at eight different stations (bounce house, relay races, snack, soccer, basketball, obstacle course, bean bag toss, and the long jump). After that they sang songs, the teachers sang songs, and the lead teacher recognized different families for things the had done for the school over the past year. Those of us that were out of children to send to the preschool were honored. More singing and then it was time for each kid to get recognized. This year they did "senior superlatives" for each kid. Each child got a medal (foil muffin tin smashed flat stapled to a ribbon) with their picture on it and their own personal "senior superlative". Mallory's was "Most Independent". That describes her to a "T". lol
After the awards, we all sang together our schoolhouse goodbye song. Then the ice cream truck arrived to give everyone a sweet treat.
That's it.
It's over.
It was bittersweet. On one hand, I was sad to see my little girl graduating but on the other I'm so excited to move to the next phase of our lives. It will be so great not to have kids in two different places on a regular basis.
