Strawberry Picking

Yesterday we went strawberry picking. It's become a tradition. The kids & I have been doing it every May for the past 6 years now. We always go on a tour with some group. La Leche League toddler group was the first to introduce me to this experience and this year it was Mallory's preschool group. The thing I like about the tour is that you get so much more than just picking berries. The kids get to see a puppet show/educational slide show, feed the aninmals in the petting zoo, usually plant a bean, go on a wagon ride, & play on their cool playground, in addition to, picking & eating strawberries.

Speaking about eating strawberries, I think my kids were eating more than they were putting in their baskets. lol Mallory had so much strawberry juice on her face (in the shape of a beard & mustache) that Mitchell said she looked like Abraham Lincoln.

We ended up picking over 2 gallons of strawberries. I'm planning on making some homemade preserves so we can enjoy the fruits of our labor for months to come. Yum!!!
